Urban Archery Application

The City of Franklin permits two archery hunters per calendar day. Select up to five available dates in one application, complete the form in full, and sign the liability release below. Applications are reviewed by city staff.

Hunting Pinpoint – Archery 2026–2027

We are now accepting requests to hunt the Pinpoint property during archery season. The conditions are listed below, and all Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources rules must be followed.

Urban Archery Season

September 5 – October 2, 2026 and January 3 – March 28, 2027(antlerless deer only)

Early Archery Season (Statewide)

October 3 – November 13, 2026

Conditions of permission to bow hunt on City of Franklin property

  1. No person shall discharge a bow within 100 yards of, or from, over or across any dwelling, building, sidewalk, street or alley in such a manner that an arrow may strike the dwelling, building, sidewalk, street or alley.
  2. No hunter shall field dress a kill on City property.
  3. Archery equipment can only be discharged from an elevated stand with a minimum height of ten (10) feet.
  4. Any stand used on property owned by the City of Franklin must be manufactured by a member company of the Tree Stand Manufacturers Association.
  5. Any use of non-climbing type stands such as ladder stands, hang-on stands, etc., is prohibited.
  6. All stands must be removed from City property following each hunt.
  7. A full body harness shall be worn at all times while hunting City owned property.
  8. Discharge of archery equipment is restricted to qualifying land parcels only.
  9. No hunter shall hunt this property by the use of a dog or dogs.

Due to the size and location of the property, permission is granted to allow only two individuals to hunt the property on a given day.

To be fair, hunters are granted five reserved days, but may request additional days once the original dates have passed. Make sure additional days are listed on your permission slip and posted on your vehicle.

Applicants must present a valid Virginia driver’s license and hunting license at the time of scheduling.

I acknowledge that I participate at my own risk and that I will comply with all applicable state hunting regulations and city ordinances.
